Miranda Mather has been designing and making bridal wear for over 20 years.
Before starting her own business Miranda worked for Louise Selby, an award winning wedding dress designer. In 1994, she began designing and making her own bespoke bridal wear.
Miranda also trained as a milliner at Kensington and Chelsea College, after which she opened her studio, Mather & Gott Millinery, hand making hats, before returning full time to designing wedding dresses from her home studio.
Miranda Mather designs and makes wedding dresses, evening wear, bridesmaids, flower girls all at affordable price but with exceptional attention to detail.
She also really loves bringing a vintage dress back to life and is also very happy to alter and add to an 'off the peg' dress.
How I work
Individually designed and handmade to order
Miranda Mather specialises in creating one off, beautifully designed bespoke bridal wear. Having a wedding dress made is a very enjoyable experience and a more affordable option than you might think. Designing your own wedding dress is a great opportunity to include your own ideas. Miranda will work with you to design and make your perfect dress. When you have a gown made just for you it mean's that you will be completely happy with the finished design, fabric and details. You can feel confident that you will be relaxed and look wonderful on your wedding day.
Miranda usually allows 3-6 months to make a wedding dress so there is plenty of time to order fabrics and do all the necessaty fittings. However she can always make one up in less time if needs be. Evening wear and bridesmaid outfits usually require less time.
How do we make sure you are 100% happy?
At the first appointment Miranda will meet to discuss your initial ideas, your preferences, your likes and dislikes. Please bring with you any photos, drawings, fabrics or images you have seen in magazines or online, by using these Miranda can help you decide how you want your wedding dress to look.
At this stage, Miranda will show you examples of different types of fabrics and and you can look at different shade cards for colour options. She has an extensive range of silks - organza, satin, taffeta, chiffon, dupion, laces, beaded designs etc for you to consider to make up your dress. She will refine the design working with you until you are completely happy with the finished look and you feel the dress truly reflects your dream.
Once you are happy Miranda will make the dress first of all in calico to enable her to make the exact shape and style. It also gives you a good idea of what the dress will look like so there are no surprises. There could be a couple of fittings at this stage to make sure that it fits you perfectly. Once you are happy Miranda will cut your chosen silk fabric and start to make your wedding dress. There will be several more fittings before the dress is complete.
Great care is taken in sourcing the right trimmings and details for your gown. Veils can also be made to measure to complete the perfect wedding picture.
